San Diego Zoo Global

San Diego Zoo Global is proud to be part of the second annual Zoohackathon. As in the inaugural year, when we were proud to have assembled a wonderful group of talented programmers, designers, and thinkers, we hope to again mobilize San Diego’s creative technical community to directly address wildlife trafficking challenges. Halting the illegal capture and transport of endangered species is crucial to our mission as a conservation organization dedicated to ending extinction.

Rhinos like Nola (pictured here), as well as others, have been severely threatened by illegal wildlife trafficking. Nola passed away in 2015, leaving behind only three of her species (Northern White Rhino) worldwide.

The mission of San Diego Zoo Global is to save species worldwide by uniting our expertise in animal and plant care and conservation science with our dedication to inspiring passion for nature. We strive to be at the forefront of wildlife conservation and education.

Opening Reception: Friday, September 22, evening.
Hackathon: Friday, September 22 through Sunday, September 24. Details to follow.
